One in six of Indiana’s hoosiers are fighting hunger. Many are simply looking for a hand up, not a hand out so our team lent them some of theirs at Gleaners Food Bank. We spent the morning sorting, packing and organizing over 12,000 pounds of food. Gleaners distributes this food to a network of over 250 partner agencies which includes emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.
You can help fight hunger too. Check out the opportunities at Gleaners for you to volunteer.
About Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana
Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana was founded in 1980 by concerned citizens who had a simple yet profound vision: No one in Indiana should suffer from hunger and malnutrition. Gleaners’ mission is to lead the fight against hunger in central and southeast Indiana by collecting, storing, and distributing food to those in need. They also provide direct services to those struggling with hunger, through programs such as BackSacks: Weekend Food for Kids, School-Based Pantry, C.A.R.E. Mobile Pantry, and Community Cupboard.
